The Barrington Land Conservation Trust (BLCT) is hosting Wine on the Harvest Moon on Sunday, Sept. 27 at 7 p.m. on the grounds of St. Andrew’s School in celebration of Barrington’s treasured, natural wonders.
The evening will feature a specially prepared wine-tasting presented by Grapes & Grains Fine Wines & Spirits set to live music against the backdrop of one of nature’s rarest shows – a full lunar eclipse.
All are welcomed to attend to learn more about Barrington’s land, sea, and wildlife and the programs that preserve them for all to enjoy.
“Barrington is nationally recognized for our preservation and conservation programs. In fact, Barrington is home to one of the richest wildlife refuges in New England,” said Tim Faulkner, BLCT president.
The all-volunteer Barrington Land Conservation Trust is a private, non-profit organization established in 1979 to protect and preserve Barrington’s unique land, water, and wildlife resources. Working closely with town management, BLCT leads our community in land stewardship and environmental advocacy to prevent over-development.
In addition, BLCT provides free school and community education programs such as Barrington’s owl prowls, Nockum Hill field trips, and classroom lectures. And BLCT often serves as a model for environmental groups around the country in the protection of indigenous and endangered species including our diamondback terrapin turtles, ospreys, and purple martins.
“I got involved with BLCT because it stands for the land we enjoy everyday,” said BLCT board member Maureen Johnson. “Wine on the Harvest Moon is our way of bringing the whole town together to insure our natural wonders will be around for generations to come.”
